Harvest Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible.
Currently, we are at or near capacity with 15-18 students. Men are begging to come to Harvest Academy, but we have to turn them away.
We're ready to increase the scale of the Academy and give even more individuals the opportunity to change their lives. By developing a comprehensive campus, we'll be able to serve more than 140 students by project completion.
With increased capacity, Harvest Academy will have an exponentially greater reach and level of peer influence to impact change. We will offer more vocational training schools like Harvest Academy Movers. Not only will we serve more students, but we will also equip them with a wider variety of hands-on training experiences. This will prepare students with the skills and values necessary to be successful following their 24-month stay.
Additional phases of this project may include a program and staff for women coming out of similar circumstances. The Academy could also serve as a training center for future therapeutic communities in the Midwest and across the United States.
We believe Harvest Academy's new campus will bring lasting change to more lives that were once broken - with a ripple effect that impacts Iowa children, families, the workforce, and the health and safety of our communities.
The new Harvest Academy campus will be a multi-phase project developed over many years. The site plan for Phase 1 has been approved by the City of Des Moines and includes initial infrastructure and all appropriate work necessary to allow the Academy to move forward.
This includes site acquisition and development, planning and design, utility installation, and construction of two residential homes with attached three-car garages. These homes will provide capacity for 36-48 students and two to four staff members. Anticipated completion date is September 30, 2025.
